Season

The primary season for lacrosse is in the spring and typically runs from late March or early April through June. In addition to the spring season, some summer and fall programs are also available for Bantam, Junior and Senior lacrosse.

Teams

Both experienced and new-to-lacrosse players are welcome at every age level of our Tolland Youth Lacrosse teams. Our team placement aligns with USA Lacrosse age group guidelines (https://www.usalacrosse.com/age-eligibility-guidelines ), placing boys within the following teams:

Lightning* - Grades 1, 2, and some K

*TLC Lightning players are typically in 1st and 2nd grade and fall within the USA Lacrosse 7U & 8U groupings. Some players who are 6U by USA Lacrosse age grouping or are in kindergarten may participate. It is recommended that parents who are unsure if their child is ready reach out to our club president (contact found under Board of Directors tab) to help make a decision.

Bantam - Grades 3 and 4

Juniors - Grades 5 and 6

Seniors - Grades 7 and 8**

**Seniors may also include 8th grade boys who are outside of the USL 14U age range.

 Boys Lightning Lacrosse

The Tolland Lightning Lacrosse Program is designed to introduce newer players to the sport of lacrosse in a fun environment that focuses on the development of fundamental lacrosse skills and teamwork. The Lightning team will meet twice a week; one weeknight for practice and one weekend day for either a game or practice. We use age appropriate drills and games in an effort to teach players how to scoop through and pick up ground balls, pass, catch and shoot. As our players develop their skills, we scrimmage within our team and play friendly games with other Lightning Programs. The team plays 6 to 8 games over the course of the season. There is some travel involved with the Lightning program as we do play games with other Lightning Programs in our area.

Boys Bantam, Junior & Senior Lacrosse

Both experienced and new-to-lacrosse players are welcome on all teams.

Practices & Games: In the Spring season, Bantam, Junior and Senior teams typically practice 2 times per week, with one or two games per week. Boys Bantam, Junior and Seniors teams are considered travel teams, with Bantam traveling somewhat less through Seniors traveling somewhat more.

Playoffs and Championship: As a member of CVYL each Boys Junior and Senior team has an opportunity to play in CVYL playoffs and advance to the championships. These games occur in June and take place after regular season games are complete.

Tournaments: Depending on availability, our Boys Bantam, Junior and Seniors teams typically participate in at least one tournament each season. Some seasons teams are able to participate in more than one tournament.

Team Size: Teams may be limited in size so that everyone gets sufficient playing time and coaches can successfully manage practices. Additional teams at each level may be added if there are sufficient registrations and volunteers to coach. Depending on the number of registrants, boys playing in Juniors and Seniors will be placed on A and B teams based on skill level.

 Playing locations

Our teams practice and play home games on fields located in Tolland, CT. These fields are located at the Tolland public schools and the Tolland Recreation Center.
